It must be pretty exciting being nominated for an Oscar, right? While most of us can only ever dream of such an extraordinary thing, the latest nominees will no doubt be elated, but one nominee's reaction has got the whole of social media talking.

While the likes of fellow-nominee Christian Bale have been nominated various times, one man whose soaking in the experience for the first time is Sam Elliot, who's been rightly recognized for his supporting role in A Star is Born.

The critically-acclaimed film, which is also nominated for Best Picture, sees Best Actress nominee Lady Gaga and Best Actor nominee Bradley Cooper take the lead roles in the fourth version of the Hollywood classic.

However, Elliott's assured performance as Bobby Maine, an earnest tour manager and supportive brother to Bradley Cooper's Jackson is equally compelling, and if you've seen the movie, you probably cried at the end when Maine and Jackson embraced one last time.

In his typical southern drawl, Elliott's reaction proved that his straight-talking wit wasn't too dissimilar to Elliott's.

"I think the thing off the top of my head might be, 'It's about f*cking time'," he told Deadline.

"Beyond that, it's really about the work; it's just about the creative process. It's great to be recognized for that, that's really all it's about."

He added. "I think my biggest takeaway is just how fortunate I am. Number one, to still be in the game, but to have an opportunity to work with two people like Bradley and Stefani (Lady Gaga), it's just extraordinary. Fifty years into the game and all of a sudden to have anything to do with this, to be connected with a film like this, it's just a wonderful gift."

Elliot concluded his sentiments for the movie by simply being grateful to be part of the project. "I'm so grateful to be a part of it. It's meant everything to me. It's been some sort of a gift in my world on a personal level."
