Zayn Malik has been fired by his management company after he reportedly lost his cool with them.
In an exclusive report from the Sun's Dan Wooton, the Pillow Talk hitmaker became verbally aggressive to his management team after his breakup from the supermodel Gigi Hadid.
The news comes just months before the expected release of his second solo album.
Malik rose to fame in the British boy band One Direction before controversially jumping ship and kickstarting his solo career a year later. However, while Malik's debut solo record Mind of Mine was a hit, he was unable to tour the album owing to his longstanding issues with anxiety.
While this was never an issue, it was undoubtedly a source of dissatisfaction to First Access Management’s Sarah Stennett once Malik's diva tantrums became more common following his split from Hadid.
In a press release to Variety, Stennett confirmed the reports they had parted ways. “Sometimes in life you have to make extremely difficult decisions to effect positive change for everyone,” she said.
The pair had worked together since 2015 following the singer's departure from One Direction. In many people's eyes, Stennett had helped steer Malik's images in a completely new direction after he left the world's biggest boy band.
Despite the sudden parting of ways, the singer's second album will still be released in June 2018, as Variety reported.
Revealing to BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw about the kind of music fans can expect from the new album, Malik said, “It’s a bit different to my last record in terms of it’s matured, [I’ve] got a bit older.”
“I think my confidence has definitely grown in the last year and a half."
What are your thoughts on Malik's behavior? Has he reached diva status? Or is the former boy band member destined to fade into obscurity?
