Will Smith has given Tyrese Gibson $5m to help aid his ongoing custody battle with his ex-wife Norma, who is refusing to let Gibson see their 10-year-old daughter as she seeks to place a restraining order on him.
The news comes shortly after Gibson recorded himself breaking down in tears after none of his wealthy friends came to his aid, but one of Hollywood's biggest stars took note and donated a life-changing amount of money.
The Fast and Furious star's custody battled is believed to have started after his ex-wife claimed that he hit their child, though he has strenuously denied these accusations and has claimed he is now "unemployable" as a result.
It is also likely that the actor's troubled finances lie in the 38-year-old's inability to find work outside the Fast and Furious franchise, with his Fast and Furious colleague Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson holding off talks of another movie until he completes a spin-off with Jason Statham.
Yet for now at least, the controversial star appears in the green, and he took to Instagram to pay a glowing tribute to Smith's generosity. Captioning a photo of the pair together, Gibson wrote:
"When we show UP for each-other there’s nothing that can’t be done I️ repeat nothing.
"My wife kept the news away from me cause I’ve been on with lawyers all day but our family and our sister Jada-Pinkett Smith and my brother Will Smith just sent us five million dollars to help keep us afloat.
You’ve guys asked me to get off and stay off the internet now that my daughters legal fees will be paid! Will listen. The Smiths’s [sic] and their whole family has always shown up for The Gibson’s [sic] Uncle Will you’re an uncle for real."
Whatever your thoughts are on Tyrese Gibson, there's no denying that Will Smith is one helluva of a friend.
