This Pup Was Struggling On A Beach. Then A Model Saw Him And Rushed To Help

OMG May 4, 2017 By Vincent

Most of us hate to see animals struggling or in pain but sometimes circumstances or a lack of knowing what to do can prevent us from stepping in. This wasn't the case for Canadian model Meagan Penman who spotted a paralyzed dog struggling to crawl across a beach whilst she was on holiday in Thailand.

The pup was also malnourished and suffering from terrible wounds on its legs so when Meagan saw the trouble, she instantly rushed to help. After asking around, it turned out that the dog had been in a motorcycle accident and its owner had just abandoned him afterward.

Taking the dog in, Meagan contacted a local vet who revealed the dog had a broken spine. Several local rescue shelters all refused to take the dog because of the condition it was in, knowing it would be too expensive for them to pay for an operation and that no one would adopt him.

Knowing that the sick puppy would be left for dead if she did nothing Meagan put her mind to it and raised $2,000 dollars via an online campaign to bring the dog with her back to Canada where she could get him the treatment he badly needed for his broken spine.

Donations flooded in and helped pay for the dog's trip, vet bills, a special doggy cart and a pet mobility rehab center to help get him up and about again. After spending all this time with him, Meagan named the pup Leo.

Even after getting him home and helping him out, Meagan's living arrangements meant that she couldn't take poor old Leo in but, via the Facebook page she set up to encourage donations for Leo's treatment, she put a call out for a good home.

A woman named Julie got in contact, and now Leo is with a warm and loving family and has even shown signs of recovery of possible mobility in the future.

Even after being saved and having surgery on his spine, Leo has still had to several operations due to the damage done to his urinary tract.

He even had to spend time in diapers because of his issues, and the poor pup was obviously not best pleased with the situation.

It is thanks to Meagan's compassion and careful thought that Leo is now living a happy and healthy lifestyle!

Bit things seem to be looking up for Leo now as he recovers and continues to enjoy his new life on another continent. Congratulations, Leo.
