The Most Beautiful Women of All Time

OMG February 23, 2017 By Hugo

With International Women's Day just around the corner, we thought we'd shine a light on some of the world's most beautiful women. Admittedly, they may not be to everyone's liking, and we're almost sure people will take umbrage with the word 'beautiful' when in reality, it is a multifaceted word.

So without further ado, here is OMG Lane's definitive list of the most beautiful women of all time.

1. Brigitte Bardot

An icon of the 50s and 60s, the original blonde bombshell possessed a beauty that was in keeping with the often overused term 'other-worldly.' Taking away her clear-to-see beauty, Brigitte Bardot oozed class as well as confidence, and her status as a sexy symbol in the early 1950s gave her a superstardom unheard of for non-English artists at the time.

One journalist, writing an article for Life Magazine in 1958 entitled, "The Charged Charms of Brigette," even gushed, "Not since the Statue of Liberty has a French girl lit such fires in America."

Retiring from acting at 39, the French starlet has devoted the rest of her life to animal rights charities and has also published five books, though has somewhat, unfortunately, become an outspoken critic of Islam in her latter years.

2. Natalie Portman

The esteemed Hollywood actress is the whole package and is someone many love-struck men would readily describe as 'marriage material.' An accomplished actress from a young age, Portman has nonetheless made education an ever bigger priority, with the Israeli- American actress graduating from Harvard University in 2003 with a degree in psychology whilst also involving herself in an array of important charities and causes.

If that wasn't impressive enough, the Oscar-winning actress and Chanel model is fluent in five different languages, has been published in scientific journals and still attends graduate classes at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

3. M.I.A.

London-born rapper M.I.A. is one uber-cool chick and has a litheness to her that not even the most Instagram-ready socialites could match.

As well as this, M.I.A. is also a singer, producer, director, visual artist, photographer and fashion designer. Oh, and did we mention she's also a model? Some people have all the luck....

4. Beyonce

Queen Bey is universally adored because of her music and skills as a performer, but it's what she represents that is equally as lauded. She's an activist for an array of causes in the African-American community, makes female empowerment a recurring theme through her lyrics, and even has the good fortune of looking like a Perfect 10 model.

Better yet, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter is happily married to Jay-z but wasn't afraid to practically out him for his infidelities in one of her recent tracks off her multi-platinum selling record, Lemonade.

You go, girl!

5. Sophia Loren

A regular participant in beauty contests in her home city of Naples before she made it big in Hollywood, Loren's beauty was so spellbinding locals ascribed her the nickname Sophia Lazzaro, as many said her beauty could wake Lazarus from the dead.

Years on, and the legendary Italian actress' Hollywood accolades are plentiful, with Grammys, Baftas, Golden Globes and an Oscar all to her name, the latter of which came from her performance in the 1962 foreign language movie, For Two Women, with Loren becoming the first actress in a foreign movie to win an Academy Award for Best Actress.

6. Marylin Monroe

Sex symbol, icon, and Hollywood superstar. Marilyn Monroe is one of the most recognizable faces of all time, and her enduring legacy continues to attract new fans. But staying away from the fact that she was initially used in Hollywood as a cute blonde, Monroe was one of the first female actresses to champion equality in an industry that still comes under attack for the pay gaps between men and women.

So sassy and all-conquering was the blonde starlet that she had already started her own production company by 1954 after being dissatisfied with the level of pay being offered by unscrupulous studio executives.

7. Emma Watson

The former Harry Potter starlet and flame-haired beauty is a shining example of what good a platform being a celebrity can yield, and her transition from Hollywood to women's rights activist is thought to have started shortly after graduating from Brown University.

With that said, Watson does still star in the odd film but devotes most of her time to her UN-backed 'HeForShe' campaign, which aims to promote equal rights for women whilst also breaking down the age-old attitudes towards male masculinity.

8. Freida Pinto

Viewed by many in her homeland as India's most global star, Frieda Pinto's breakout performance in the Oscar-winning Danny Boyle film Slumdog Millionaire has since spawned a plethora of campaigns for esteemed fashion brands as well as acting roles, with Pinto a mainstay in both circles.

Of course, it would be nice to see her in more acting roles, but with various fashion campaigns to her name, we're sure our eyes won't ever feel short-changed.

9. Rihanna

The most brazen personality on this list, Rhi-Rhi isn't afraid of the opinions of others, and her catwalk-like beauty makes her almost phantasmagorical in every aspect of her appearance.

Racy, provocative, and with a work rate matched by few others in her industry, (8 albums in 10 years says it all), the West Indian songstress is the whole package, with looks, talent, confidence, and class all synonymous with this chart-topping star.

10. Jennifer Lawrence

This affable young star already has an Oscar to her name, but perhaps her trip on the stairs when collecting it is what she will be remembered for most. Yet it's these kinds of instances and goofy outbursts that make J-Law one of the sexiest women in Hollywood.

She isn't afraid to be herself, and though naturally stunning, Lawrence doesn't exactly give off any signs of vanity or self-worth and is more respected for her life of the party persona and ability to make anyone around her laugh than she is for being a Hollywood hottie.

11. Sharon Stone

Actress and model Sharon Stone gave the world a pair of widening eyes when she crossed her legs playing sassy serial killer Catherine Tramell in the cult classic 'Basic Instinct' though aside from giving the world a glimpse of her private parts, Stone is also famed for her incredible IQ.

Believe it or not, the actress was offered a scholarship to the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania aged only 15, and though she withdrew two years later to become a model, with an IQ of 154, the starlet is probably smarter than most academics.

12. Naomi Campbell

Say what you want about Naomi Campbell, but there's no questioning her rare and ethereal beauty, whilst her unwavering confidence and ability to take on even the most forthright of characters (Tyra *cough* Banks) you can't help but respect this working class girl from South London.

Most of all, Campbell's appeal lies in her skin tone, which even today, continues to be a race heavily overlooked in fashion circles which is why Campbell is so celebrated wherever she goes.

13. Sofia Vergara

The fiery Columbian bombshell is the highest paid TV actress in Hollywood thanks to her work on the hit show Modern Family and the 44-year-old (not that she looks it) is married to the Magic Mike and True Blood actor Joe Manganiello, undoubtedly making them one of Hollywood's hottest couples.

Sassy, fiery and gregarious in almost every interview she appears in, Sofia Vergara is an absolute delight and makes us wish Hollywood would be more open to casting Latino actors and actresses in more prominent roles.

14. Cindy Crawford

Proving there's more to supermodels than chiseled faces and flawless skin complexions, Cindy Crawford isn't your stereotypical supermodel. Graduating high school as valedictorian in 1984, Crawford would go on to Northwestern University, and once more defy stereotypes by majoring in chemical engineering.

However, her academic career was short lived, with the model dropping out after only one term following the early success of her modeling career and has never looked back since.

15. Christine Brinkley

Sports Illustrated's most famous cover star has left people in awe of her flawless beauty ever since she came onto the scene in the 1970s, and whether you believe it or not, the American supermodel Christine Brinkley is now 63 -years-old.

Yes, that's right..... 63!

Speaking about how she looks so good after all those years, the blonde bombshell credited her lifelong vegan diet as the primary factor.

Oh to be 63, again!
