Piers Morgan has found himself in hot water once again after he criticized the British girl group Little Mix for their nude cover shoot.
In one of his signature Twitter tirades, Piers Morgan attacked the premise behind the shoot, writing that they were 'using their nudity' to sell records and had copied the idea from the Dixie Chicks.
But what was initially a dispute between a girl group and a dogmatic news anchor turned viral after solo sensation Ariana Grande threw her hat into the ring.
Grande's mum Joan was the first of the Grandes to get involved, attacking Piers's principles as a person and his decision to criticize the talk show host Ellen DeGeneres for always commenting on attractive males while also promoting an array of feminist causes.
"Honestly what is wrong with you @piersmorgan ? Didn’t your mother ever teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it! You came for @TheEllenShow yesterday which was disgraceful, she is an angel. @LittleMix today, did you ever hear of paying homage? And..well never mind.
Piers's quick-witted retort soon followed. "Hi Joan, my mother taught me to speak my mind and never be afraid to express honestly held opinion.
"Ellen's a hypocrite - and as for Little Mix, I'd just prefer they use their talent to sell records rather than their nudity.
"As your own daughter does...!"
This was then the perfect time for Ariana herself to jump in, waxing lyrical of Ellen DeGeneres and her right to promote her image as she so pleases.
"Ellen is an incredible & kind human being.. I use my talent AND my sexuality all the time because i choose to. women can be sexual AND talented. naked and dignified. it’s OUR choice.
& we will keep fighting til people understand. i say this w all due respect but thank u, next."
So who's right, and more importantly, who's wrong? An obnoxious news anchor or a self-obsessed pop star?
