Original Harry Potter Hogwarts Acceptance Letter Goes Up For Sale

FUN FACTS September 7, 2017 By Vincent

Attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was almost every millennial's ultimate dream as the Harry Potter franchise became an unstoppable force through the rise of books and films about the boy wizard. However, few, if any of us, ever got our letter delivered by an owl that proclaimed we had, indeed, been accepted into the same school that Harry Potter and his friends went to but now you can finally receive the prestigious honor of going to such an educational establishment by  buying Harry Potter's actual acceptance letter.

An auction by Movie memorabilia collector Prop Store is being held in London and features other items from the Harry Potter film franchise including on Weasley's Howler from The Chamber of Secrets but you don't have to be in the UK to make a bid as online bids are also being accepted. Harry's letter is expected to fetch around £3,000 (or roughly $4,000 USD) so you may have to have deep pockets inside your wizard's robes in order to dig out enough cash to get your hands on such an item.

The letter comes with the envelope, which was addressed to Mr. H. Potter, The Cupboard under the Stairs, 4. Privet Drive, Little Whinging, SURREY and also a letter of authenticity from Warner Bros. The real, wax Hogwarts seal was broken by little Daniel Radcliffe in Chris Columbus's first Potter film, but otherwise, it remains perfectly intact.

It is not just magical items from the Harry Potter films going on sale though as other iconic film props are also available to be bid on. Buddy's costume from Elf, a stop-motion puppet from Corpse Bride, and Jack Nicholson's jacket from The Shining are all up for grabs so if you want yourself a piece of movie history, head on over to the Prop Store Auction.
