It's the most wonderful time of the year- but not because it's Christmas. Well, maybe it is for you if you like fake snow and candy-decorated Christmas trees, but here at the OMG Lane offices, we see December as the perfect time to binge on the Home Alone movies as Macaulay Culkin gives us the most significant facial expression ever captured in a film.
Yes, even if you aren't Home Alone obsessives like us, you've probably got into a festive habit of binging on these classic childhood movies because who wouldn't want to watch Joe Pesci and Culkin in the same movie?
Anyway, one person who seems to have made a welcome return to the spotlight this year is none other than Macaulay Culkin himself. Now 38 (yes, we really couldn't believe it either), Culkin shot to fame playing the cheeky but adorable eight-year-old Kevin McCallister who is accidentally left 'home alone' by his busy parents who jet off to Paris while he is left to fend off a host of burglars.
Now with his own website called bunnyears.com, Culkin returned to the Jimmy Fallon Show and spoke in length at how his fame peaks in the festive period.
"I do get recognized more this time of year... It's there, it's like a thing."
He added that this came in handy whenever he was dating a new girl.
"You have a new girlfriend and you're flipping through the channels and there's Home Alone, and she's like, 'Huh? You wanna watch it?'
"You want to watch Home Alone with Macaulay Culkin, don't you?
"And I have indulged that. Most of the time I'm just muttering my lines under my breath. 'Keep the change, ya filthy animal.'"
The hilarious reveal was something we would probably all do ourselves if we happened to have starred in the most famous Xmas movies of all time.
"Whatever gets her motor running, I guess," he jokingly concluded.
But Culkin's reason for appearing on Fallon wasn't to wax lyrical of his ability to quote his lines but to encourage fans to enter a poll on his website and vote for a new middle name.
For those interested, the five names on offer are 'Shark Week', 'Keiran', 'TheMcRibIsBack', 'Publicity Stunt' and the go-to if all else fails, 'Macaulay Culkin.'
"I was staring at my passport recently, and I was looking over my middle name, my current name is Macauley Carson Culkin, it's very Irish. So I thought I should probably spruce up my name a little bit."
If you're bored and rich, we'd probably do the same, Mac.
