Aside from the HBO juggernaut, Game of Thrones, there probably isn't a single show on TV that is as popular as Netflix's Stranger Things, despite the show being only 2 seasons old.
A runaway success, the paranormal series has been compared to Stephen King's Stand By Me and Steven Spielberg's E.T. and has made stars of its predominantly child cast, including the gifted Millie Bobby Brown, who wants Leonardo DiCaprio to play her on-screen brother.
Speaking to the Press Association, the 14-year-old said: "I have already made a storyline. Leo, if you want to be in Stranger Things, here's the contract."
While season 3 has no release date, it is unlikely one of Hollywood's most in-demand actors will accept the role. Still, fans were at least consoled by a recent photo which captured the cast and crew going over the script for the new series.
A teaser trailer released by Netflix also suggested we can expect the same faces for season 3, while reports have confirmed that 3 new characters, played by Maya Hawke, Cary Elwes, and Jake Busey will be introduced.
Breaking the news, Entertainment Weekly reported that Elwes will play a 'sleazy politician' and Busey a courageous journalist at the local newspaper, the Hawkins Post. Hawke's character has been described an 'alternative girl.'
As for a possible future role for DiCaprio, it's unlikely someone of his standing would ever appear in a tv series. After all, not even best friend Kevin Connolly, who stared in the cameo-rich HBO hit Entourage could convince Leo to make an appearance, so it's probably wishful thinking on Brown's part.
Yet with his movie roles winding down following his much-coveted Academy-Award win for The Revenant, Leo certainly appears to have taken a backseat in the movie business, so who knows?
What would you make of a Leo cameo? Would it be awesome or would it be quite distracting to have someone as famous as Leo on the show?
