Jonah Hill is one of Hollywood's most exciting actors, and also one of the more approachable stars working in today's industry. Super passionate about his craft, the Superbad actor and hipster fashionista is a serious talent, both on screen and behind the scenes, as he proved with his recent directorial debut, Mid 90s.
However, it's no secret that Jonah has struggled with his weight in the past, but rather than accept his lot as the overweight best friend in every movie, he underwent a rapid weight loss. Whilst he initially struggled to maintain his new lifestyle, Hill's healthy physique seems to be here to stay, so much so that he has even been taking classes in Jiu Jitzu.
But Jonah Hill has never been someone to take themselves too seriously, as he comically demonstrated when he took to social media to admit that he had just had his 'ass kicked' by a 12-year-old.
Sporting the traditional robes of the famed Brazilian martial art form and looking better than ever with masculine stubble and bleached hair, the star shared a photograph of himself with the caption reading,
"Nothing more humbling than getting your ass kicked by a 12 year old your first week. Got my first stripe today. I know it sounds corny but it's pretty dope to jump in and do stuff you'd never think you'd be able to do."
The star recently opened up about his childhood which he claimed was full of bullying and taunts about his weight. In an emotional, candid interview, Hill was determined to 'let go' of the past and the insecurities it spawned.
"I started Brazilian Jiu Jitzu 2 months ago and try and train 4 or 5 times a week. In high school the dudes who did Jiu Jitzu used to beat the shit out of us at parties so it turned me off to it as an idea growing up," he said.
"But quietly I always thought it was a beautiful art form . At 35 , I try and get over the stuff that made me feel weak and insecure as a teenager. It's just wasted time and lessons you'll never learn. Trying to let go of that."
"Much respect to Sensai Josh and @clockworkbjj and Anthony for getting me into it."
Fans of the star were quick to praise his new outlook on life. One person encouragingly wrote, "So true about the wasted time. Always look forward Jonah!"
"Welcome Jonah to a beautiful art for the mind and the soul. Great words and thank you for sharing. Respect", another wrote.
Jonah, you're the man! Keep doing your thing, buddy.
