Johnny Depp has gone public with his depression in the wake of a series of financial and personal troubles.
Following his divorce from the Australian actress Amber Heard in 2016, Depp was then front and center of a legal dispute with his former managers, who he claimed mismanaged his money. They are counter-suing Depp for breach of oral contract.
"I was as low as I believe I could have gotten," Depp told Rolling Stone in a candid interview. "The next step was, 'You're going to arrive somewhere with your eyes open, and you're going to leave there with your eyes closed.'
"I couldn't take the pain every day."
Depp has also made the headlines for his gaunt appearance after a photo of him posing with a fan went viral. The actor has also had to contend with reports that he had his lines 'fed to him' through an earpiece when performing as Gellert Grindelwald in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The film also caused a lot of baggage for both Both Warner Bros and JK Rowling due to the domestic abuse accusations levied against Depp by his ex-wife Amber Heard.
To cope with the stresses and strains of the past few years, Depp revealed that he had begun writing a memoir to cope and make sense of everything in what must be the most challenging period of his career.
"I poured myself a vodka in the morning and started writing until the tears filled my eyes and I couldn't see the page anymore," he confessed.
"I kept trying to figure out what I'd done to deserve this. I'd tried being kind to everyone, helping everyone, being truthful to everyone. The truth is most important to me. And all this still happened."
Whatever your views on Johnny Depp, there's no doubting his honesty and want to do better. For everyone's sake, we hope Depp gets back on his feet in no time.
