Starting out as a sun-dappled male model, Jason Momoa has reinvented himself as a pretty awesome actor over the years. From the savage barbarian Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones to every woman's favorite superhero in Aquaman, Momoa is certainly in a sound place.
But one thing in life that is more important than anything career-related is family as Momoa himself will attest when he took a break from his jet setting lifestyle to spend some quality time with his grandma in the rural wonders of Iowa.
Posting two lovely photos of the pair to his Instagram account, the first sees a grinning Momoa light up the camera with his Hollywood smile as his adorable grandma flashes her own beautiful smile. The second, which will melt your heart, sees them sitting beside each other in his grandmother's room staring out of the window watching life go by.
With an eloquent description befitting of such beautiful photos, Momoa wrote, "Needed to come home to Iowa and give my grams some aloha Love u forever grandma#Mabel#thematriarch #raisedbywomen #loveuma#hawaiianiowan. HAWAII backwards is IIAWAH. IOWA Aloha."
Marking a refreshing change from the usual ab-tastic photos that dominate most handsome actor's Instagram photos, users were quickly smitten with the posts.
One user wrote: "So precious! Make every moment a treasured memory!"
Another waxed lyrical of the importance of family: "You're blessed having your grand Ma and it's great you take the chance to visit her!"
As well as having a lovely family, Momoa has every reason to be cheerful. After lending his face as the leading man in the December blockbuster Aquaman, the film has already taken more than $1 billion worldwide, assuring that the 39-year-old's career is only on the up.
If the film manages to attract even more bums on seats, it will surpass Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises as the most lucrative DC superhero film of all time.
However, Aquaman has been much-maligned as a superhero in recent years and has often been the brunt of ridicule, but Momoa's Aquaman looks to have already turned that image on its head.
"BILLION DOLLAR UNDERDOG. from Baywatch to making what once was the most disrespected superhero into a billion dollar movie. no one gets to the top without the people that love them," he exclaimed on Instagram.
"My success is from my fans. All my aloha to everyone that had a hand in making this movie. Mahalo Zack for choosing me and mahalo James for creating this beautiful world."
Good on you, Jason!
