Idris Elba has long been voted one of the sexiest men in Hollywood and one of the greatest actors of his generation- fine praises, indeed. However, it his latest cause of appreciation that seems to have hit a chord with many of his male followers.
The Wire star took to social media to reveal a clean shaven look for an upcoming movie role in the movie adaptation of Cats and admitted that he often feels insecure looking at himself in the mirror with no facial hair.
While you'd think that actors would have little to no insecurities considering the revealing nature of the profession, Elba put those misconceptions to bed by pointing to the 'massive space' in between his upper lip and his nose.
"It's a kind of a shape thing," he said. "Whenever I have to shave off my facial hair it's like what the front door man' - but then every now and again, as I get older, I just have to appreciate it."
He also added that while he doesn't like the aesthetics of his clean-shaven appearance, it allows him to see the face his mum and dad gifted him.
"And this is my Mum and Dad's face. And not only did they give me this face but they gave me the facial hair, and they gave me the brains behind the facial hair," he eloquently added.
However, he then lamented the loss of his signature facial hair once more. "But nah man, I'm missing my shit right now.
"Real talk. I'm making a movie at the moment where they insisted, based on the special effects, that you have to shave it. Struggling!"
He also joked that his wife didn't like his new look much either. "I always struggled with this bit between my nose and my top lip, it's like massive, you get me. But anyways, some people like it and a lot don't - like my wife."
Elba was recently announced as the evil Macavity in Cats, joining a star-studded cast which includes the likes of Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellan, James Corden, Rebel Wilson and Jason Derulo.
