Celebrity Breakups That Everyone Predicted

Celebs September 12, 2018 By Hugo

While the movies would have you believe otherwise, love is far from magical in Tinseltown. Instead, the fairytale romances you see depicted in films such as Beauty and the Beast and Gone with the Wind are mere fiction in a land were make-believe has become multi-billion dollar industry.

After all, the reality of love paints a much darker picture, and celebrities are no exception to this depressing truism.

Read on below as we list 10 celebrity couples whose love failed to go the distance.

1. Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux

These two fellow thespians looked good together- but it wasn't meant to be. After all, Jen loved her California sunshine while Theroux still pined for his home in the east. Aniston also wanted to lead a more quiet lifestyle while Theroux still had the partying bug.

Another mitigating factor was that they couldn't have children, which probably played a significant role. Ultimately, things didn't work out, leading to their divorce and a joint statement which expressed their "cherished friendship."

2. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez

From one doomed courtship to another, Justin Bieber got what he wanted when the Come And Get It hitmaker ran back into his arms following her split from The Weeknd, but within a matter of months, they called things off.... AGAIN!

No one knows why this is the case, but inside sources have speculated that Gomez's family weren't too happy with Justin being back in their daughter's life. He has since become engaged to the model Hailey Baldwin, proposing in a fancy resort in the Bahamas.

Selena remains single.

3. Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky

This one was never going to last, was it? Young hot woman gets seduced by much older and wiser dude is a tried and failed formula in the dating world but one many younger women still experience. In their case, the former couple met on the set of the physiological-horror movie, "Mother!" and started dating after filming had finished. Despite the 22-year age difference, they appeared to be smitten with one another and were often pictured holding hands in public.

However, the private couple only attended two events together as a couple. The first saw them step out together for the film premiere of "Mother!", while last November, in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, they attended a rally encouraging college students to vote.

The Academy-award winning actress has previously dated Coldplay's Chris Martin and the British actor Nicholas Hoult, the latter of whom she dated for 2 years.

As for Aronofsky, his relationship with Lawrence was his first since his divorce from the actress Rachel Weisz, whom he shares a 10-year-old child with. The couple were married for 9 years before Weisz moved on with her Dream House costar Daniel Craig.

Are there any eligible bachelors in Hollywood who have the looks, as well as the charm, to woo a woman of Lawrence's beauty? Asking for a friend.

4. Heidi Klum and Vito Schnabel

The 44-year-old supermodel has dated a lot of men, which makes you wonder what Klum is doing wrong as she's fricken' Heidi Klum, one of the most decorated fashion models ever to grace this fine earth. Nonetheless, looks don't always buy you a free pass. Instead, Klum's doomed marriage with Seal has seen her date a succession of men.

Her most recent relationship was with a smooth 31-year-old art dealer. Lasting 3 years, Schnabel has demonstrated some serious game over the years. As well as dating the attractive German model,  the seasoned lothario has also dated cougars Elle MacPherson, Demi Moore and Liv Tyler. So impressed was The New York Post with Schnabel's ability to woo older, famous women, they even wrote a piece on him entitled, "Hollywood’s hottest cougars are hunting this 27-year-old."

As one 40-year-old woman in the piece revealed, "When he talks to you, it’s like you’re the only person in the room."

5.  Sarah Silverman and Michael Sheen

Who actually noticed that these two were together for four years? Well, whether you noticed it or not, the comedian and actor eventually split after four years together in what has to be one of the oddest pairings in Hollywood history.

It is thought the long-distant nature of their relationship played a role in their breakup, with Silverman living in L.A. and Sheen residing in London. The British actor has found himself in many high-profile relationships over the years, with his marriage to Kate Beckinsdale perhaps his most noted. He's also dated Rachel McAdams, whom he met on the set of the Woody Allen movie, Midnight In Paris.

6. Elon Musk and Amber Heard

Just months following her high-profile split from A-list actor Johnny Depp, the hot Australian actress Amer Heard hooked up with the man of the moment, Tesla founder and space visionary, Elon Musk.

Despite being 15 years her senior, Musk appeared smitten with Heard (who wouldn't?), but this unusual rebound pair (Musk was fresh from divorce himself having been married to the British actress Talulah Riley) appeared destined to fail, much like Musk's companies. Yes, we went there.

7. Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs

Robert Pattinson has been unlucky in love, hasn't he? Having shared a whirlwind romance with Kristen Stewart who infamously cheated on him with the British film director Rupert Sanders, Pattinson called things off and moved on with the experimental hip-hop artist FKA Twigs.

Still, despite rumors of a wedding, Mr Cullen could never truly get over KStew, who now appears to have ditched dudes altogether in favor of pretty women like the Victoria's Secret model, Stella Maxwell.

Now that's gotta hurt.

8. Kylie Jenner and Tyga

The Kardashians are a running joke, but their bank accounts are anything but- just ask Kylie Jenner, who is on course to become the world's youngest female billionaire. In fairness, Kim and Kanye have been together a while now, but the rest of their family seems to be on a relationship carousel wheel, constantly looking for the next best rapper.

Take Kylie Jenner's relationship with the rapper, Tyga. While they have been on and off for years, (Tyga actually left his baby momma for Kylie when she was 16) it seems unlikely that these two will ever be anything other than a former Kardashian couple.

9. Alessandra Ambrosio and Jamie Mazur

The Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio was engaged to the American businessman Jamie Mazur for 10 years before the couple finally parted ways.

Mazur, who has a net worth of $20m and is the co-founder of Re-Done, a company that sells designer jeans at a wholesale price across college campuses, shares two children with the recently-retired Victoria's Secret star. The couple first met in 2008.

10. Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick

Another Kardashian?! We know, we know, but alas, such is the cultural appetite for big bums and talentless families, we couldn't help but round off our list by profiling the longest-running relationship in the family, that of Kourtney and Scott's, who called time on their tumultuous relationship a few years back.

However, they remain friends, and despite toying with the idea of getting back together, the writing now looks firmly on the wall, with Kourtney saying to Scott in a recent episode of Keeping up with the Kardashians, "I think the moral of the story is we are never getting back together."
