Hollywood is a demanding industry- particularly for those at the top. Not only are you surrounded by eager-eyed fans and paparazzi wherever you go, but you are also privy to the demands of studio bosses and companies who expect you to behave and act a certain way.
It's for these reasons that many hire personal assistants to help them deal with their hectic day-to-day schedules. But rather than appreciate their hard work, these celebrities took them for granted.
Here are 10 examples of celebrities who reportedly made life hell for their personal assistants.
1. Naomi Campbell
Rebecca White once worked for the mercurial supermodel and admitted that working for Campbell would be horrible because "she would intimidate and yell and gain her power by making people cry."
As well as her bullying tactics, the London-born star also made a plethora of diva demands, which included lily-scented candles being in every room before she got there. "There always had to be five candles in the bathroom, 10 in the bedroom and 10 in the living room," White explained.
2. Lindsay Lohan
The former child star hasn't had the best of luck in her career lately, so maybe that's why she reportedly took all her anger out on her assistant Gavin Doyle shortly after her arrest for a DUI. In fact, Lohan, who only made bail because of Doyle, later kicked him out of the car and forced him to walk home.
Incensed. Doyle later tweeted, 'After bailing you out last night I HOPE and PRAY you get the help you so desperately need.'
3. Christian Bale
It's common knowledge that Christian Bale is one angry dude. You only have to listen to his monstrous rant secretly recorded by production staff working on one of his films to know that.
With that in mind, it's probably not that shocking to know that Bale was also a bit of a douche to his former personal assistant Harrison Cheung, who would later write a tell-all memoir about his experiences with the actor.
According to Cheung, the volatile actor often made his fans cry and eventually his ordeal with Bale forced him into therapy for the next five years.
Madonna isn't only music's most successful female recording artist; she's also music's biggest diva.
In just one week, Madona's inexplicable behaviour led to five of her staff walking out on her; two of whom were her personal assistants.
5. Lance Armstrong
Let's jump straight to the point: this guy isn't very nice. He's not only a disgraced cyclist but also someone who, according to his former assistant Mike Anderson, was "abrupt and cruel."
And not only to him. He was also rude to his ex-wife and most shockingly of all, he used to tell Mike that he "hated" attending Livestrong events for his charity.
6. Jennifer Lopez
While no one has come out and claimed J-Lo is a bad boss, an anonymous source claimed that working for her isn't easy.
"The job is 6 days a week, at least 12 hour days" the job description is reported to have read. The source also admitted that you needed a "thick skin" when around her.
7. Mariah Carrey
Perhaps only rivalled by Madona in the diva department, Carrey is one songstress you wouldn't want to work for. According to Ylser Oliver, lawyer of her former assistant, the singer made Oliver work 16 hour days SEVEN days a week without a lunch break.
In the lawyer's very own words, "My client put her family's life on hold while tending to Mariah Carey's family."
8. Sharon Stone
Sharon Stone's former assistant wasn't complimentary of her as a boss when she candidly revealed her experiences working for the star.
The assistant, who remained anonymous and wrote a blog detailing her experiences stated, "She was a complete b*tch all the time, yelled at me for everything unless she wasn't yelling, at which point she was belittling me."
9. Keely Shaye Smith
The former entertainment journalist is most known for being the wife of the handsome British actor Piers Brosnan.
However, unlike Brosnan who an anonymous assistant described as the perfect English gentleman, Smith was, " a mean-spirited, dimwitted, obese, blame-shifting b*tch!" Ouch!
10. Lady Gaga
Jennifer O'Neill's experience working for Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta was so bad she ended up suing the superstar for lost wages.
Described as being "the queen of the Universe, every day", O'Neil admitted that she was treated like a "slave" and was forced to be at her beckon call 24/7, which sometimes meant sleeping in the same bed with her because "she didn't sleep alone."
