Disney fans may or may not be aware that, after the success of remakes of The Jungle Book, Beauty and The Beast, and Alice In Wonderland, Disney will be doing a live-action remake of their much beloved 1994 film with James Earl Jones (who voiced Mufasa in the original animation) and Donald Glover already attached to the project.
Rumour has now been circulating for some time, though, that the Queen of pop herself, Beyonce, could be in line for the role of Nala and is apparently director Jon Favreau's first choice for the character. Disney have now confirmed this fact alongside a ream of other superstars making up the rest of the cast that includes, Donald Glover as Somba, James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Alfre Woodward as Sarabi, John Oliver as Zazu, John Kane as Rafiki, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.
Fans will be hoping that Beyonce's casting will also make the most of her powerful vocal which also raises the question of the return of the Oscar-winning Elton John songs. Will they make a return or will a completely new soundtrack be used? Only time will tell but there certainly seems to be a palatable excitement about this production now as the cast has fallen into place. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
