Actors Who Fell In Love On The Set Of Their Movies

Celebs September 26, 2018 By Hugo

The movies have long told us that happily ever afters exists, so when we see couples falling for each other in our favorite movies, we want to believe that the love was real, and in some cases, it actually was.  After all, the acting process for these roles entailed a deep level of dedication to the role, and if there is strong chemistry between the film's two leads, this can spill over and transform into full-blown love.

Just take these 10 examples. The majority of these couples met on the set of riveting love stories so read on below and see if your favorite on-screen couple got together as we list 10 movies that spawned real-life love between the two leads.

1. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart- Twilight (2008)

They may have dated in real life, but Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson couldn't ever seem to convince anyone other than teenage girls and Mormon moms that their relationship was any good. In fact, it sucked.

Yes, the pun was awful and unnecessary, but it did suck, and most critics agreed that it was the performances of the leads that made it suck even more. Alas, the couple enjoyed a whirlwind few years together, and with their moody personas and hipster apparel, they actually seemed pretty suited to each other. Well, until Stewart cheated on Rob with the British director, Rupert Sanders.

2. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling- The Notebook (2004)

One of Hollywood's modern-day romance classics, Nicholas Sparks's The Notebook made stars of its two leads, Ryan Gosling, and Rachel McAdams. But though the two would go on to date for three years, it wasn't love at first sight according to the film's director, Nicholas Cassavetes. "Maybe I’m not supposed to tell this story, but they were really not getting along one day on set. Really not," he revealed to VH1.

“And Ryan came to me, and there’s 150 people standing in this big scene, and he says, ‘Nick come here.’ And he’s doing a scene with Rachel and he says, ‘Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?’

"I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘I can’t. I can’t do it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this.’”

3. Marylin Monroe and Tony Curtis- Some Like it Hot (1959)

Despite both being married, both actors found love on set- Monroe to the playwright Artuth Miller and Curtis to Janet Leigh. That said, Monroe's apparent diva-ish demands and constant request for re-shoots irritated Curtis. So much so, in fact, that when asked by a member of the press what it felt like to kiss the blonde bombshell, he replied, "It was like kissing Hitler."

Tony Curtis latter penned a memoir of his life in Hollywood and revealed that their affair resulted in Monroe's pregnancy which was ultimately undone by a tragic miscarriage.

4. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie- Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2004)

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are in the process of finalizing one of Hollywood's most high-profile divorces, but if you go back 14 years, it was nothing but love when these two hotties met while filming the crime comedy/drama Mr. & Mrs. Smith.

What made the relationship even more dramatic was that Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time, a relationship many deemed the gold standard of celebrity marriages. However, Pitt left Aniston and adopted Jolie's children, leaving Hollywood's ultimate power couple to tie the knot in 2014 before Jolie filed divorce proceedings just two years later in 2016.

5. Julia Roberts and Lyle Lovett- The Player (1992)

America's sweetheart may now be happily married to Daniel Moder, but her first marriage to the country singer Lyle Lovett lasted little over two years which isn't that surprising considering Lovett popped the question after three weeks of dating!

The two had met on the set of the film The Player and had chemistry in more ways than one, but like most cases of young love, it never usually works.

6. Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux- Wanderlust (2011)

Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux instantly fell for each other on the set of the 2011 movie Wanderlust. They seemed a match made in heaven, but things soon went south once they got married in 2015.

In fact, just earlier this year, they announced their separation via a joint statement, with Aniston's preference for the Westcoast and Theroux's want to stay in New York and go out and party reportedly playing a big role. Another mitigating factor was that they couldn't have children, which probably played a significant role. Ultimately, things just didn't work out, leading them in their joint statement to say that they will always have their "cherished friendship."

7. Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky

This one was never going to last, was it? Young hot woman gets seduced by much older and wiser dude is a tried and failed formula in the dating world but one many younger women still experience. In their case, the former couple met on the set of the physiological-horror movie, "Mother!" and started dating after filming had finished. Despite the 22-year age difference, they appeared to be smitten with one another and were often pictured holding hands in public.

However, the private couple only attended two events together as a couple. The first saw them step out together for the film premiere of "Mother!", while last November, in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, they attended a rally encouraging college students to vote.

The Academy-award winning actress has previously dated Coldplay's Chris Martin and the British actor Nicholas Hoult, the latter of whom she dated for 2 years.

As for Aronofsky, his relationship with Lawrence was his first since his divorce from the actress Rachel Weisz, whom he shares a 10-year-old child with. The couple were married for 9 years before Weisz moved on with her Dream House costar Daniel Craig.

Are there any eligible bachelors in Hollywood who have the looks, as well as the charm, to woo a woman of Lawrence's beauty? Asking for a friend.

8. Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan

Despite the obvious facade of Hollywood, some Tinseltown couples are happily married, despite all the vices and distractions prevalent in a city like Los Angeles, and for Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, their marriage appeared to be the gold standard of Hollywood marriages.

Having met on the set of the romantic dance movie, Step Up, Tatum spurned the advances of countless beautiful women to be with Jenna Dewan, and their bond never looked likely to break until it was announced earlier this year that they had divorced after 9 years of marriage.

According to inside sources, Tatum had always missed the party lifestyle he grew accustomed to before he met his Step Up co-star.

9. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith

While Jada Pinkett Smith failed to impress casting directors when she auditioned for the part of Will Smith's girlfriend in the popular tv series, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, it was there that she formed a real relationship with Will Smith, whom she is now happily married to with three children.

Three years after the failed audition in 1997, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith married, and despite reports of an open relationship and cheating rumors, one of Hollywood's most powerful couples remain a force to be reckoned with.

This couple has given us serious relationship goals over the years, which is why we continue to write about their every move, from their friendly online banter to their fairytale good looks. However, one thing that wasn't a fairytale was the movie Green Lantern, which is how they met and fell in love.

After romancing each other off sett and probably making one another laugh every second, they got hitched in 2012 and currently have two children.

If there was anything good to have come from Green Lantern, it's this relationship.
